The white dress

Read Japke van Uffelen's story on a dress by Ann-Sofie Back Atelje.

Wrung onto her body, comletely see-through: that was what was left of it. The most beautiful body-hugging, white, straight dress with cap sleeves she had ever seen. It was the most expensive dress she had ever bought, costing almost half of the rent, and so it had to work. Luckily she wouldn’t have to pay for the food and drinks, and, hopefully, her drive home. It had been perfectly romantic, but still she wanted more. Not the goodbye kiss, that was not the reason she was wearing this dress. Was it too white? The fabric too stiff? The silhouette too boring? Should she be content with a kiss on the doorstep? Or would the rain, suddenly pouring from the sky, cause she wouldn’t even get that kiss?

But then, she felt his warmth close to her, no fabric seperating them from eachother. She finally got what she wanted for so long.
