SUNO

Max Osterweis decided to launch Suno in 2008 after more than a decade spent avidly collecting colourful textiles on his regular trips to Kenya. Today the Suno design studio is based in New York’s Garment District where most samples are made. The garments however, are primarily produced in Kenya by local tailors, allowing Suno to combine the hustle and bustle of New York with Kenya’s traditional artistry.

The installation is made in collaboration with photographer Luke Gilford, who creates independent images as well as commissioned work at his bases in Los Angeles and New York. He removes forms and colours from their contexts and rearranges them into abstract images that resist revealing their true nature to the viewer. His work is exhibited at the prestigious Museum of Modern Art in New York, and you’ll find his editorial photography in magazines like Dazed & Confused and AnOther Magazine.
