Raf Simons
Raf Simons is one of the few designers presently considered untouchable – everything he touches turns into gold. Born in Belgium in 1968 he studied Industrial and Furniture Design before switching to fashion, encouraged by Linda Loppa, the then head of the Fashion Department at the Antwerp Royal Academy. Autodidact Simons fearlessly took on the fashion industry, forming his own label in 1995. Ten years later he was named Creative Director of Jil Sander and so the saga of success continues to this day.

The installation is made in collaboration with Pierre Debusschere. Look at his photographs and you’ll discover the expressive quality of light. The Brussels photographer handles this elusive element in an inimitable manner, and numerous international publications, including Vogue and AnOther Magazine, have recognised his mastery. Debusschere cites the aurora borealis as his biggest source of inspiration.
