HAPPY thoughts with Fashion in Film Festival

59 Positions, Erwin Wurm, Austria 1992

In 2007 Arnhem Mode Biennale asked Fashion in Film curators and founders Christel Tsilibaris and Marketa Uhlirova about HAPPINESS:

What makes you happy?
Christel: I’m happiest when I’m having a seaside lunch with my friends on a beautiful summer’s day.
Marketa: Tools with peculiar functions, hysterical laughter, little kittens that jump sideways, bad jokes with a bad punch line.

  1. Which piece of clothing makes you the happiest?
Christel: Jeans, bags and shoes (I simply can’t choose).
Marketa: The woollen socks that my grandma gives me every year.

  2. Things you can’t live without:
Christel: Eating!!! ... and my sunglasses.
Marketa: Dance scenes in the TV series The Mighty Boosh, cards with cats from the 1920s, fiction and photography books. And music, but is that a thing? My Lole y Manuel CD.

  3. Can fashion make the world a better place?
Christel: Only people can make the world a better place.
Marketa: Only if we know how to appreciate quality, plus the idea behind an item of clothing.

  4. What’s the status of fashion today?
    Christel: If only I knew!
Marketa: Hmmm. What fashion and by who?

  5. What’s your happiest moment so far?
Marketa: I don’t know. I think that moments of being happy only are happy at that very instant. Then they end up being forgotten or frozen.

  6. What’s the colour of happiness?
    Christel: Blue and white.
Marketa: Blue like midnight, the best colour ever.
