1 - 30 June
City centre Arnhem
It's laundry day throughout Arnhem city centre from June 1st, but then with a distinctly Italian tint! A hundred or more printed laps of cloth hang flapping in the breeze above the shopping streets and alleyways. As you walk through the city, a
story ‘unfurls' in the sky above. Image by image, the prints on the washing describe how the stroke of a pen is developed into a dress and how a polka dot is fashioned into a pattern. This temporarily transforms Arnhem into a backdrop reminiscent of Naples, a place where poetry, fashion and passionate desires prevail. Giene Steenman and Jessica Helbach are artists with a great
passion for research and fashion. They have specially joined forces to realise this project.
They have also invited Maria Barnas (an artist and writer) and Annesas Appel (an artist) to make a contribution to the Neopolitan washing lines.
