5 June - 20.30 hrs
Catwalkzaal De Steenfabriek
The fashion With a Mission Foundation was established by Jacqueline van Lent and Rietje Compiet with the goal of offering women in crisis situations, the homeless, addicts and women with psychiatric problems an opportunity to be involved and productive. These women produce the fashion label ‘Ami-e-toi’, which is designed by young fashion designers from Arnhem. This new label’s first fashion show is being
held during this second edition of the Arnhem Fashion Biennale. Proceeding from the idea that everyone deserves a second chance, a second-hand detail is integrated
into every item of clothing. The theme of the fashion show is ‘Le fil rouge’.
Fashion With a Mission is also opening a temporary retail outlet for the duration of the biennale. In an interior inspired by Bruce Weber’s stunning book, ‘A House is Not a Home’, visitors can experience the
all-inclusive of the traditional craft of fashion. As a counterbalance to the usually transitory nature of fashion production, Fashion With a Mission allows visitors to experience the process of design, seamstresses at work, the buying of fabrics, matching clothes with accessories and styling advice. In the temporary shop, women can throw themselves into creating their own couture to their heart’s content.
€ 10,– including entrance to the ‘Welcome to the world of Happy Fashion’ exhibition
