Maurice Scheltens

‘Stylised and provocative still lifes'

Maurice Scheltens ‘portrays' the most banal objects - a salad spinner! - as if they were the best paid top models around: titillating, but above all intriguing.

Besides these everyday utensils, Scheltens also shoots aesthetic still lifes of contemporary design from, among others, the design collective Droog. In front of his lens, the latest fashion and accessories such as shoes - even the newest PlayStation - acquire an unsuspected glamour.

Scheltens works for a whole stable of stylish international magazines including Wallpaper, Another Man and Re-Magazine. His clientele is just as prestigious: Adidas, Nike, Mercedes and Habitat.

He graduated from the Royal Academy of Art in The Hague in 1995, and has been exhibiting his photographic work internationally ever since.
