Jeanne Detallante

‘Ominous realism'

The true-to-life pencil illustrations by Jeanne Detallante are extremely enigmatic. Detallante (b. 1978) draws seemingly cosy domestic scenes, but is her work really as pleasant as it first appears?

Pale, washed-out tones give her drawings a nostalgic hue.
In 2005, Detallante transformed a series of photos by the leading photographer Steven Meisel into highly detailed drawings for Vogue Italia. In that same year she portrayed ‘art doyens' such as Damien Hirst and collector Charles Saatchi in a series of black-and-white pencil drawings for the British art magazine Frieze. Detallante has also created T-shirts designs for the American designer Anna Sui.

For the Arnhem Fashion Biennale 2007's preview booklet she created a surrealistic drawing with fantasy characters.

This Paris native graduated from the Ecole Supérieure des Arts Appliqués Duperré in Paris and has been living in New York since 2000. In March 2007 her drawings were exhibited at Galerie AAA in Paris.
