'A spider in the web of fashion'
Diane Pernet's sphere of activity is the universe. This summer brings her to the Arnhem Fashion Biennale as curator of the never-ending fashion/video festival ‘You Wear It Well', which Pernet established together with the photographer Dino Dinco.
The whole world can follow in the globetrotting footsteps of Pernet, who dresses like a Sicilian widow - pitch-black frocks, sunglasses and a towering, candyfloss hairstyle - via her blog.
One day she is posting photos from a Brazilian or Japanese fashion week of work yet-to-be-discovered fashion designers, but she also covers the top shows in Paris and Milan. A week later she is reporting from the IQONS.com fashion party in London. Pernet, who originates from Canada, is the initiator and co-mentor of this MySpace of fashion.
Pernet produces films and videos and is an avid talent scout. During her art- and fashion-driven trips, as well as chez elle on the streets of Paris, she is constantly meeting latent talent. Pernet understands what young designers have to endure: in the 1980s she was a successful fashion designer herself.
